
Paula Gaetano Adi (b.1981, San Juan, Argentina)
Artist, researcher. Graduated with a degree in Audio-Visual Communications and a postgraduate degree in New Media Arts from the Blas Pascal University (Cordoba, Argentina). She has been active in many fields of contemporary art, including sculpture, performance, interactive installations and robotics. Her research explores the ways in which new technologies influence the human body, focusing on the process of modeling based on physiological data (the so-called ‘artificial corporality’) – using computing systems as an alternative medium for intellectual activity modeling. Gaetano Adi’s works have been presented in numerous exhibitions within contemporary art museums and festivals, including ARCO Fair (Madrid), FILE Festival (Sao Paulo), BIOS4 (Seville), MejanLabs (Stockholm), Brandenburger Tor Foundation (Berlin), Museum of Modern Art (Buenos Aires), Espacio Fundacion Telefonica (Buenos Aires) and the National Art Museum of China (Beijing). She received first prize at both VIDA 9.0 (Madrid), an international competition on Art & Artificial Life, and ‘LIMBO’ (Museum of Modern Art, Buenos Aires). Gaetano Adi was also the recipient of numerous grants from the Argentinean government, San Juan Bank Foundation, Fondo Nacional de las Artes and Blas Pascal University. In 2006, she was a visiting research scholar in residence at the Center for Research on Engineering, Media and Performance (REMAP) of the University of California (UCLA, Los Angeles, USA). Gaetano Adi is currently a faculty member of the Electronics Arts program at the Tres de Febrero National University and the Mixed Media Art program at the National University of Lanus in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
